If there is any company that knows how to sell smartphones, first name will be Samsung. Everytime they try to make a new strategy they come up with a new series. First it was the “S” lineup soon it extended to “Tab” then “Note” and now this time “Round”. Samsung is using different names to sell it’s products and this time it has launched a smartphone with curved display and has a name Samsung Galaxy Round (named after the curved display).

It was not long ago that there were rumors of flexible display production for Samsung and LG. The later proved it true by showcasing their curved battery and now Samsung has already released their product.

Samsung Galaxy Round is the world’s first curved screen smartphone. The curve of the phone is not like the previous Nexus models this time Samsung has chosen to curve it horizontally. Samsung has been working on its curved display or the YOUM technology for some time which was showcased in the CES 2013 and this looks to be the entry in the market. This phone was announced in Korea and it was released on 10th Oct. through Korean network.


Samsung Galaxy Round follows the Note 3 faux leather inspired design. There is an addition to the feature list which is “Roll Effect”, it allows the user to check the date, time, missed calls, battery etc. just by rolling the phone to one side even when the screen is off. There are even more features allowing the user to take more advantage with gestures.

It packs specifications similar to the recently released Galaxy Note 3. Samsung Galaxy Round features a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Series CPU, Adreno 330 graphic processor, 3 GB RAM and is said to come in 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD card slots (up to 64 GB).

Price and availability

The has announced the Samsung Galaxy Round for Korea in the brown color and is being planned to launch in more colors. It is available through South Korea’s biggest mobile carrier SK Telecom, costs 1.09 million won about $1013 USD. The phone is amazing and you should have it, but if you don’t have enough money just get a loan, the best ones find them here.

It is not yet clear how much the Samsung Galaxy Round will cost in other countries but according to the specifications, this device is definitely going to be a high range phone. The price of this device can be equal or little less than the Galaxy Note 3. The device has been announced in Korea and soon it will be releasing worldwide. It’s not clear that the curved display is just a marketing strategy or more. Let’s see how this curved thing does in the market, although it is not be going to be easy for it. Suspicions about the validity of the curved screen are the perfect example of why you need to monitor your brand closely.
